Opting out - What you need to know

  • Your employer cannot ask or force you to opt out.
  • If you are asked or forced to opt out, you can tell The Pensions Regulator.
  • If you change your mind, you may be able to opt back in – write to your employer if you want to do this.
  • If you stay opted out of the scheme, your employer will normally enrol you again in around 3 years.
  • If you change your job, your new employer will normally enrol you again straight away.
  • If you have another job, your other employer might also put you into a pension scheme, now or in the future. This only allows you to opt out of pension saving with The People’s Pension. Separate opt outs need to be done with any other pension schemes you have been enrolled with by other employers, if you wish to do so.

If you opt out within your 1 month opt-out period, we’ll arrange for a refund of your contributions to you. The refund is completed through your employer’s payroll. So, depending on what date you opt out and the frequency that your employer pays your salary, it may take 3-5 weeks for a refund to be issued to you.

To opt out, please ensure you've completed all fields below. Please contact us if you don't have this information.
